Viva
Flamenco collaborates with Christopher Lee
The
making of the DVD Revelation in the London studio with
the Viva Flamenco dance group. Christopher
Lee arrived at the London studio to sing the ''Toreador
March'', while Juani Garcia (lead dancer) choreographed
the
flamenco dance routine for her dancers.
The day began with the musicians being
filmed while playing the main song of the ''Revelation''
album, the ''Toreador March'', in flamenco style. Juan
Ramirez,
the artistic
director
of Viva Flamenco was the lead guitarist, with David
Jones playing second guitar and Andres Ticino playing
cajon.
By midday the dancers had all arrived and
the atmosphere was hotting-up. Juani looked fabulous
in her passionate red costume performing the lead dance
role in the song. Mr. Lee was in a very relaxed and jovial
mood
and this helped the general feel-good atmosphere that
developed that day in the studio.
There were many different takes, as is
normal in a day's shooting, but the time simply seemed
to fly by as everyone was enjoying themselves and having
a lot fun working with Mr. Lee.
Juan
Ramirez arranged and wrote the music and the lyrics
for "Carmencita",
a romantic duet in a flamenco rumba style love song. Mr Lee sang this in the
studio
with
special guest singer Lola
Rueda
whilst Juan recorded his part in an open-air setting, in order to add contrast
to the beautiful backdrop for Mr. Lee and Lola. The genuine warmth and enjoyment
of their performance certainly came through on the song.
At
the end of the day, everyone was really very happy
with all the takes and the producer, Juan Aneiros,
was spoilt for choice.
Recorded and filmed in the UK, USA and
Spain, featuring a diverse range of musial styles,
''Revellation'' is the ultimate collecton of songs
for film and music fans alike. The Special Collector's
Edition DVD features videos from the album, including
''The Toreador March'' from Bizet's ''Carmen'', in
both Flamenco and a special Metal Mix.
Additional tracks combine Mr. Lee the
Actor and Singer, featuring songs from his earlier
career (''Name Your Poison''), to an interpretation
of the romantic knight errant, Don Quijote, in ''The
Impossible
Dream'', to the classic ''My Way''.
Arguably, the most recognisable voice
in entertainment, Christopher Lee's ''Revellation''
reflect's his diverse and unconventional career - he
has done it His Way.
